HOW TO SELECT MARQUETTE'S NEXT JUDGE?
People often ask how to decide between the candidates for District Court Judge. It’s an important decision and one that we know our neighbors and community is taking seriously. Here’s how Patrick stacks up against the American Bar Association’s factors for evaluating judicial candidate qualifications:
Trial experience: Patrick has spent his entire career in the courtroom, as a prosecutor, a civil and family litigator, and as a criminal attorney serving as Marquette County’s Chief Public Defender.
Community involvement: Effective judges serve beyond the courtroom. Patrick works with our youth as a community football coach, scout leader, and serves on multiple non-profit and legal boards to advance positive change.
Administrative experience: Patrick currently leads a Marquette County department with more employees than the District Court, interfaces with government agencies at all levels, sets policy to benefit our community, and provides legal education to local attorneys.
Fiscal responsibility: Patrick has generated over $15 million for Marquette County through state grant funding, as well as operating under budget by $2 million over the last five years.
